TAKE ACTION TO END FLUORIDATION! GET IT OUT OF OUR CITY & COUNTY WATER! The City of Naples Water Treatment Plant’s expenditures for fluoride in the last fiscal year (October 2008 thru September 2009) were $21,163, with costs for the County of Collier at around $40,000 ! The City of Naples Utilities Department keeps .7ppm - .8ppm of fluoride in our water. Fluoride is an active ingredient in rat posions & cockroach powder. Fluoride is more toxic than lead and slightly less toxic than arsenic. In the largest U.S. study of fluoridation and tooth decay, United States Public Health Service dental records of over 39,000 school children, ages 5-17, from 84 areas around the United States showed that the number of decayed, missing, and lled teeth per child was virtually the same in uoridated and non-fluoridated areas. On July 2, 1997, the union that consists of and represents all of the biologists, toxicologists, chemists, engineers and attorneys at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) headquarters in Washington, D.C., voted unanimously to take a stand against water fluoridation. They cited scientic evidence of uoride’s link to increased risk of hip fracture, cancers, bone pathologies, genetic mutation, and neurological impairment, including lower IQ in children. Recent science also links uoride to Alzheimer’s disease, kidney damage, chronic fatigue symptoms and sleep disorders. Dental fluorosis, a permanent chalky mottling of the teeth and a window to uoride overdose of the entire body, is on the rise, even in non-fluoridated communities. Fluoride is more toxic than lead, only slightly less toxic than arsenic. I believe that uoridation is outdated, unscientic, violates medical ethics and denies freedom of choice. Its serious risks far outweigh its minor (if any) benefits.
