Name: Lynn Shoenig on Mar 4, 2009Comments: I have been out of and actively seeking a new position since January of 2008. It seems to me that this Cobra assistance should be eligible for everyone who lost their job in 2008. Job layoffs were happening all during 2008, not just beginning in September. It seems to me that nothing in the stimulus package except the continuation of unemployment helps those of us who are out of work prior to Sept., have continued to pay mortgages even while unemployed, continued paying the bills, and healthcare. (By the way, I worked in the Obama campaign. I am not a Republican.)Flag

Name: Joanne Roberts on Mar 4, 2009Comments: My husband was laid off prior to 9/1/08. We are paying $930.00 per month for Cobra coverage and definitely need help in doing so. Please eliminate the date of 9/1/08 as the cut-off to help ease this burden on my family. Thank you.Flag

Also people who were laid off prior to Sept 1, 2008 need help as well, it is a very tough job market for everyone!!! We all need your help!!!!Flag

Name: Terry Wollin on Mar 4, 2009Comments: Please. My husband was laid off Jul 31, 2008. I have diabetes and can not obtain insurance any other place. Change this arbitrary date. Since COBRA is only good for 18 months why not allow anyone on COBRA to benefit from the subsidyFlag

Name: Darlene McElroy on Mar 4, 2009Comments: Please help us who were laid off with the full 18 months. The insurance for my husband and me is 858.oo a month. We cannot afford this even for one month with our 500.00 a month income from unemployment. Please help others who lost their job before Sept 1, The goverment should try to change what Cobra can charge a family for health insurance.Flag

We are barely holding our own - how are we ever going to afford health insurance after two years of unemployment and a drop in our income by about 75%. After two years - what is next. Thank God we are both in reasonably good health.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 4, 2009Comments: I missed this Cobra subsidy by one day and think this is truly unfair. My Cobra payment is over $450 a month. I am finding that it has been extremely difficult to even obtain an interview, let alone a job offer especially for us workers over 50.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 5, 2009Comments: I along with many others was layed off in February 2008 and am still looking for a job after 34 years of service. I wrote my Congressman, yet with no response on why I was not included in this stimulas. My benefits end in August of 2009, and I may be forced to do without some coverage till I reach 65 in 2 years. Please forward this note to the appropriate individuals to allow those of us layed off prior to Sept. 1 to continue COBRA till age 65.Flag
