Name: Anonymous on Mar 2, 2009Comments: I was laid off last April and have started paying COBRA this past fall (after severance package ended). Please consider including those of us that have been struggling to pay COBRA premiums since prior to this 9/1/08 date. Afterall, this recession began in December 2007. Thanks for listening.Flag

I am so very afraid that I will not be able to find work. My mother has had to help me pay my COBRA ins. premium of $484/month. I only recieve $780/month in unemployment. Sure hope that things get better soon for many Americans.Flag

I was very happy to hear about this part of the stimulus package until I saw the 9/1/08 date and realized that I would not qualify for this. As a single mother who is still not employed, paying only 35% of our $572 monthly Cobra bill would be a huge savings for us...I have another 6 months available on Cobra and I am not sure that I will be able to afford to continue for much longer! Please help!Flag

Name: David Garron on Mar 3, 2009Comments: Although I am not directly affected by this cut-off, and neither are any family members, I do believe that equity is on the side of this petition. The layoffs from this economic tailspin started during the last quarter of 2007. Those who were laid off prior to Sept. 1, 2008 are no less deserving of health care than those who were laid off after this date.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 3, 2009Comments: Mr. President, I was laid off from a 14 year career at Citigroup in July, 2008. As you aware, securing new employment in this rough economic climate is extremely challenging, even while diligently searching for a new job on a daily basis. I hope you will reconsider the COBRA assistance benefit to help those of us impacted by this recession prior to 9/1/08. Thank you.Flag
