Comments: Those who lost their jobs prior to Sept 1 or left their jobs voluntarily (prior to Sept 1) who are now paying COBRA medical insurance premiums should be included in the COBRA medical insurance premium assistance program.

Comments: I was laid off end of August 2008 and just recently signed for cobra and paid $1400 for three months which covered Jan-March. They Thinking that my family had insurance through February they recently notified me that in order to open my cobra I would have to pay $1400 since they were billed some office visits during Jan and Feb. I had no choice but to pay it since I have an ongoing treatment when I had my thyroid surgery. My wife who will be losing her unemployment extension soon, will then have a hard time paying for my healthcare and theirs as well. So I hope that you can somehow eliminate the date range or change it to August 2008 and so fort so this way we can get some discount on our cobra and maybe this way I can add my family to my plan. Look forward to having this past by congress and have this change implemented.

Comments: Access to affordable heathcare is essential. Solve it through the stimilus package or new legislative processes--but please solve it quickly. Many are suffering--not me, not yet, but plenty of others are.

Comments: As a person with several chronic illnesses, not having cobra really isnt an option-I have to have it in order to be able to only have to pay copays for my medical care and prescription costs. I lost my job in July 2008 and have been struggling to come up with the ridiculous amount of money it cost just to keep my health insurance. Please eliminate the time lines for eligibility

Comments: Laid off on 8/15/08. My employer allowed me to pay for my health insurance until Jan. 2, 2009. Now I have to pay $846 per month for Cobra. The new law should at least apply to those of use who were eligible for Cobra after Sept. 1, 2008. This law needs lots of work.

Comments: Many people are hurting through no fault of their own. If, as a nation, we can bailout car companies and banks then we better be able to give compassion to individuals as well. Please consider this as a way of helping those in dire need. Thank You.

Comments: In many ways this is unfair. I was laid off on June 2oth and elected Cobra insurance starting July 1 2008. The logic behind the September 1 date I think is because this is when the stock market began to tank. The economy began to tank much earlier in 2008. The longer people are out of work the more they are struggling. Most of my nest egg has been depleated due to the stock market crash and being out of work for over 8 months. I hope they will consider changing that September 1st cut off date. Thank you for listening.
