   Comments: How can it be right to say, "No to the Disabled. Yes to the Developer!" In 2005 three mobile units for the disabled were refused by the Planning Inspectorate, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, because it would cause further inroad into protected countryside thus ensuring that this area remained Greenbelt. Before that in 1997 our own local authority refused permission for a further 17 towed caravans to be sited on this sensitive site because of environmental reasons and destroying the ambience of the locality. The question that has to be asked is, "How could this happen?" We now face the ludicrous scenario that Coast View can have more residents living on site than live in this village, and as there is no footpath on this stretch of the main Torquay Road this proposal is also endangering life. It is a travesty that this planning application has been approved as it is riding roughshod over every environmental protection. When it landed in Council Chambers it should have been kicked into the stratosphere where it rightfully belongs.
