Name: Chris Chapman on Apr 23, 2009Comments: as a working professional photographer living and working internationally as well as being born and raised in Ottawa, i am both deeply saddened and angered by this ridiculous move....we need more cultural institutions ....not more chambers for politicians....having a museum of CONTEMPORARY photography was something i was proud and very aware ofFlag

Name: Leo Lazar on Apr 23, 2009Comments: I see photography as an art form that captures essential elements of human experience as well as the impact on the artist. This is true whether the objects are people, animals or landscapes. I mourn the loss of a photo or the album where it was displayed for nothing can ever replace it.Flag

Name: GEORGE HUNTER on Apr 23, 2009Comments: The C.M.C.P. has been doing an excellent job of securing, preserving and exbhiting the lifetime work of Canadian photographers. They must be allowed to continue this important mission as the photographers are the true historians of the day. In my seven decades of photograph, I have felt that the oher side of fine art considers photography a a second-class entity. The current action of the National Gallery proves my contention without a shadow of doubt. Mr. Red Wilson, chaiman of Historica, prpclaims, “A country without appreciation of its heritage is not a country.” To assist photographers in helping Canada remaining a country, I believe C.M.C.P. should be divorced from the National Gallery and returned to its former venue on the Rideau Canal.Flag
