CL&P Owes Us Answers
Hurricane Irene knocked out power to most of Monroe, CT on Sunday, August 28, 2011. In fact, after the storm, 93% of Monroe was without power. 5 days later, on Thursday, September 1, 2011, according to CL&P's own figures, 41% of Monroe is still without power. And they are estimating that the remaining power will not be fully restored until Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:45 PM...ALMOST 12 FULL DAYS AFTER THE ORIGINAL OUTAGE.
We, the signees of this petition think that is unacceptable and want a full accounting and understanding of how and why this occurred. In addition, we demand that CL&P put in place disaster recovery plans such that Monroe rate payers are assured this will not and cannot happen again. And Finally, as a Monroe rate payers we also want know the overall rate and frequency of outages in the town and what CL&P plans to do in general, to upgrade the infrastructure and minimize the frequent outages that are unrelated to catastrophic events.
