These animals who give their working lives to the human race deserve protection, care and respect. They do not deserve to have their lives ended this way ! It is time for every industry, every person who has horses/ponies to be accountable, to be responsible for the animals compassionate outcome !Flag

Name: Christine Davies on Jan 30, 2010Comments: It is 2010 and the removal of these antiquated, cruel, trading markets is long overdue. Bring in a law where those who want to breed or keep horses are held responsible for them....for life. Make the licence fees reflect the gravity and responsibility of horse ownership. Anyone found breeding or keeping horses without such a licence should face severe penalties and the horse removed to a place of safety.Flag

Name: Mark Johnson on Jan 30, 2010Comments: 'Ancient right of horse traders '- what a joke; what about the rights of the horse to stop being abused, or the fact that Ireland should now be in the 21st century, not the 16th. All the old 'traditional, ancient' jargon rearing its ugly head yet again. In the Uk hundreds of years ago, it was 'tradition' to bait bears. The Uk moved on and banned it, will Ireland do the smae with its horse abusing markets ?Flag

This does not reflect well on Dublin nor on Ireland. Sincerely, Holly Cheever, DVMFlag

Name: Morgan Anderson on Jan 30, 2010Comments: I bet people would change there mind about treating animals so terribly if it was happening to their fellow man. If this was happening to humans it would be a huge deal and more and more people would be looking for help and trying to protect themselves. Horse look to us for help, the people who do care, they cant carry a gun to protect them. What the real problem with unwanted horses is the BREEDERS!!!!! Start controling the horse breeders and that will help with the unwanted and abandond horses in the world. People who dont like the looks of a horse so they send it to the slaughter house or its to small or doesnt run fast enough, they all get sent to slaughter or abandond, And pardon me but that is stupid, there are plenty of people and places out there that would be more than happy to take in a short, slow or ugly horse. The problem is PEOPLE (NOT HORSES)!!!!!!!Flag
