Mr. James Fields physics teacher at Branchville HS was accused on Friday, May 17th of assaulting two students with the cafeteria door. He was arrested because of the statements from 2 girls who don't have the best disciplinary background. All Mr. Fields was doing was his job not letting them out of the cafeteria. When they felt it was time to leave they decided to push through. I do not know if the door actually hit them or not, but if it did it was not his fault he was just holding the door they pushed through and caused whatever happened to happen. Now because of it he may only be looking at 30 days max jail time but this will ruin his teaching career. He is currently 51 years old too young to be able to comfortably retire he has many years left in him to work, but he is to old to start a new career. If he is convicted this may very well make a man who has worked hard to make a living that he can survive on to someone who has to work hours on end on his feet just to scrape by. Many students have came to the principal and told the story of what happened but it's never heard about. Only the girls story which incriminates Mr. Fields is every heard about the other witnesses stories never seem to make it out of the school. The girls were in the cafeteria because they were part of a group that vandalized the school for a so-called "senior prank" that involved breaking into the school after hours and messing with the desks and other school property. He was just doing what he was supposed to do if they got hit by the door it was because they were acting stupid he did not physically try and make the door hit them. Help us get the charges dropped and save a great and beloved teachers career so that he may help mold the minds of many more students to come.
