When I was a boy I had opportunity to play baseball and football. I also had the opportunity to get my first job with the association for Indian people in Fayetteville, N.C... Also we use to have programs for the elder  and youth alike. Such as the association would go out and repair the homes of our elderly people. We also had the program meals on wheels where the association would deliver meals to elderly people who were shut in and could not do for themselves. We also had programs such as jobs, education, after school tutoring, dances and a library where the elderly and youth alike could go and read about our Indian heritage. We also use to have programs that would help our youth to apply for grants for college. We use to go to the association to learn how to be prepared for the world and could be proud of the people who we looked up too and taught us those values. We also use to have the wic Program where it was better for people to come instead of people having to drive further away. We also had a program if you did not have your high school diploma you could do so. We also use to have a program where people could get assistant with their light bill or rent and not just a set of people or one person but for all. We use to have it like this that the association for Indian people was for the people and by the people.  Not that it was just by one person’s say or from any board members vote but by the people’s vote or say. We use to have public meetings where you could go and discuss how those funds were being dispersed and what good they were doing for the betterment of the community and the betterment for the association. Now I ask you this what happened to all of this? And what are the people doing that hold these position. I tell you this that the people who hold those position ought to step up or step out and allow a new change take place where all of these things can take place again and even more better things to take place for the betterment of the community and the association!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
