New York City streets are far from clean. Littering, vandalizing, graffiti, defacing, polluting, wasting, and many other things happen on these streets and other public areas. It makes the city dirty, and people are not fond of dirty places. New York City needs cleaning, and doesn’t it seem like it’s only getting dirtier? There’s gum on every inch of the sidewalks, there is graffiti in every alleyway, and there is more litter everyday. Despite the mess, many citizens and government-funded programs are helping. There are many programs to clean up New York City, but you can also start your own! Many people want to help, but unfortunately, some people are just too lazy to unless they are pushed. It’s hard to get up on a saturday to do community service when you could be watching tv or sleeping, but with effort comes change. Push your friends to help you clean up your block, or even better your whole neighborhood! The more people you get, the easier it will be. All you need is a lot of garbage bags and a litter stick for every person. Its not that hard, and just any average citizen can do this. Those good people who stand up to make New York City a better place, they are the average people who deserve better. Again, it’s not just government officials who can help. YOU have the power to do so, anyone does.
