We the undersigned are concerned citizens and residents of the above mentioned area. We hereby petition the governments and/or their agencies, and departments, to immediately become involved and cooperate to the best of their abilities in the clean up of the Rappahannock River as it flows past the City of Fredericksburg Va. The silt trash and debris has collecting there for the last two hundred years or more, time only makes this serious condition worse, and causes a great threat to anyone venturing into the river, environmental damage to aquatic habitat, damages the natural scenic beauty of the river, impairs or eliminates any commerce or recreational use of this part of the river, and increases the flood risk. There is now a proposal from a dredging company to completely remove all silt, trash and debris and at NO COST to any government (Federal, State or local). All we need is for the governments and agencies thereof to stop stalling, studying and get involved to get this done. WE ARE TIRED OF THIS CONDITION, TIRED OF WAITING FOR ACTION, WE THEREFORE SINCERELY REQUEST A SOLUTION ASAP.
