Comments: If you are looking to improve our school system, it is imperative that class size should be an importan issue to be consider.

Comments: If you could only do one thing to improve student learning, reducing class size would undoubtedly be the most effective. Mayble the most expensive, but in the long run, you'd save millions.

Comments: As a volunteer parent, I have seen the cold hard fact that children learn and do better in a small classroom environment. As we teach our children to try and understand other perspectives, I would put to you that those people who are endorsing larger class sizes, to go and teach for one week in a large class size and see how effective they were at the end of that week.

Comments: We must give these children the best opportunity to become strong students and eventually confident, thinking adults. Small class sizes are a step in the right direction allowing children to be accountable for the work that they do (no hiding in the crowd) and giving them the personal attention that they need. We owe them that much, the rest is up to them.

Comments: As a former educator and a business owner I am appalled by the suggestion that larger class sizes be mandated in an effort to meet the budget short fall. These people are fashioning problems that we will spend decades dealing with! Cut the money to children at risk and what I see is building more prisons to house these children as we loose them because we don't provide the time, energy and resources to help them become productive memebers of society. Children need to belong to something - if their families can't support them - school gives them another place to belong, achieve and find acceptance. Their are those who will tell you that is not the role of a school and I will tell them to take a look at our history. THIS IS THE ROLE SCHOOLS HAVE ALWAYS PLAYED IN OUR SOCIETY. As a tax payer, a business owner and a human being I have had it with politicans sitting in their bloated administrative structures telling the people in the trenches that they can handle larger classes and then blasting them as achievement score go down and fewer and fewer children graduate. The pool of adequately educated workers is already too small to meet our nations demands. Why is this happening A large portion of the reponsibily must rest on directly on the heads of those who manage our school systems.

Comments: It is the policy of New York State that NYC children are only entitled to an 8th grade education . Joe Bruno and the republican party feel that NYC has 80 % of the states minorities so they do not deserve an education since they are not white. Trent Lott is said to be very proud.
