This would ensure that if a parent feels that one teacher in a grade is a poor match for his/her elementary student, the district would partner with the parent by not placing the child in that teacher's classroom. A request to be moved would be honored only one time during each calendar school year. Family engagement is essential in engaging students academically and behaviorally. Parent feedback for classroom assignment is important, even in public schools. Although it is not practical for parents to be able to request a particular teacher, it would be valuable for parents, as well as schools, that parent feedback be respected for avoiding a teacher he/she feels would be a poor match for his/her student.
