Name: Michele Bennett on Jul 3, 2002State: INCountry: USComments: We should not change the meaning of our Pledge or the intention of our forefathers. One nation, Under God is a priveledge and should be honored, as not everyone in the world has the same opportunity. Like the saying "when in Rome...", this country was based upon the acts of God and the stability of those to fight for a free world. Support whatever religion you like, but in the United States, our motto is our heart. If you don't care for the that one line, word, or sentence, don't say it. But DON'T try to take my faith in God or my country away from me. That's discrimination to me now. I want to say that, so I will. You don't want to, keep your mouth closed. I won't pray to your God or speak your country's motto if I don't believe in it, but I also won't try to stop you from doing those things either. Leave well enough alone. It's worked for this long, it has tremendous meaning to many, and it's our "ground zero".Flag

Name: Richard Venable on Feb 28, 2003State: FLCountry: USComments: I agree. We are the people who make the rules for our country. We are supposed to be living in a country where majority rules. If we are in the majority opinion that something is right then it should be made into our law. we are the ones who should be making the decisions about whether we can recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Lets put it to a vote and see which side wins.Flag

Name: Patrick Vernlund on Mar 8, 2003State: MNCountry: USComments: I think that the Pledge of Allegiance should not be taken out of schools. I am in school and I do not feel that it is unconstitutional. Even thou I am a atheist. I take the Pledge of Allegiance as a way to show respect for this great nation and our founding fathers.Flag

Name: Patricia A. Walsh on Mar 8, 2003State: MACountry: USComments: I think it is a disgrace that the US Gov. would allow the Athiests of this great country which is less than 5% of the population to dictate what can and cannot be done in our schools. They have the right and freedom of choice to participate or not whichever they prefer, but the rest of the population also have rights which are being denied. As the wife of a Veteran who fought to give us these rights I am resentful and very disappointed that this has been allowed. It must be true the "squeeky wheel gets the oil" and I think it's time the "Silent Majority" stood up, yelled just as loud and DEMANDED TO BE HEARD.Flag
