His unwavering dedication and passion to the sport of football and his desire to positively influence every player is incredible. He teaches life lessons as a coach. Don't lower your standards to the level of those who choose to negatively influence others. Name: Anonymous on Mar 4, 2013Comments: I was redirected to Idaho Falls High School news indirectly due to a chance conversation with one of my undergraduate students. Though I have not kept up with anything about my high school alma mater for a good 28 years (when my little brother, Joe, graduated), I was saddened to discover that a well-respected and good man was dismissed as head coach despite the overwhelming support that he appears to have among the local community. 30 years from now, no player on the team will accurately remember how many games were won or lost (at that point, they will probably claim more victories than they actually earned). They will remember, however, whether they both liked and respected their coach. It appears to me that Coach Johnson has both the affection and respect of everyone in that community. And that's all that really matters.Flag

If this has anything to do with the Johnson Family's religion (I went to high school with two of them and recall that they were not of the dominant faith), shame on the school board. I had few truly bad experiences during the short time that I attended that school, but those that I did have revolved around the issue of my differentness (wasn't a member of that faith, either). And I should say that a review of Coach Johnson's record reveals that he's done alright. Shame on the school board also if they somehow feel entitled to winning records at all cost every season.Flag
