Name: From A Good Coach on Dec 2, 2012Comments: I am a good coach. Coach Johnson is a great coach A good coach knows his sport. The coach must have an in-depth understanding of his sport, from the fundamental skills to advanced tactics and strategies. The coach must understand the rules of the game. Coaches may have experience as former players. Coach Johnson is a great coach. A good coach always seeks out new information. Coach Johnson is a great coach. Name: Katelyn Strobel on Dec 2, 2012Comments: I have never played football for Chuck Johnson, nor have I been affected by his coaching strategies directly. However, I have had two brothers play for him, five younger brothers to potentially play for him, and have cheered at nearly every Idaho Falls football game for the last four years. From my limited experience with Coach Johnson, I have seen a great leader. No one can pump up a student section with "I'm Tiger Nation" cheers quite like him. Although I do not claim to be the most effective evaluator of a football coaches success, I would like to share a story about the power of one coach. My Sophomore year of cheerleading my team was awful. We had no respect and we didn't respect ourselves. Every single cheerleading competition that year we received LAST place. I loved my coach. She was an excellent example and devoted her heart and soul into the program. Last year the cheer program received a new head coach. Those same girls who had taken last at every competition the year previous, went on to becoming district champions and placing second at state. The girls didn't change, the program changed. Despite another's best efforts, I confidently claim that if we didn't have the coach that we did we wouldn't have been successful. Our program has revolutionized itself. My fondest high school memory will always be watching my hard work pay off at the state competition. This is a joy that I hope every athlete gets to experience. Coaches make a difference. It is plain and simple. If you want to negate this, you have a testament ten feet away from the football team at every game. As far as the "name calling" and "slandering," stop embellishing the situation. Everyone has the right to share their opinions and just because they are different than yours does not make them wrong or unjustifiable. Most importantly, it doesn't make them a bad person.Flag

Name: SE on Dec 2, 2012Comments: I also agree with Tim Miller. IFHS administration needs to step up to the plate. This kind of ugly hateful campaign has cost this community greatly. It has pitted neighbor against neighbor, religion against religion, those who have against those who have not and as we see family members against family members. I have tirelessly worked for the past 5 years to bring those of different faiths, economic, and cultural backgrounds together for the betterment of our community and within one week much of this work has been destroyed. This hate could of easily been stopped early on by the IFHS administration, with a statement of support for Coach Johnson. It should of been posted Monday morning on both petitions by Principal Hurley. But here we are 14 days into this mess without any leadership or direction from IFHS or the district 91 office. How long are you going to allow these people a public forum to spew their hate and discontent while the rest of us in the community are left to do damage control and to pick up the pieces. IFHS administration, district 91 leadership is this how you would like to be remembered, frankly I could not look myself in the mirror knowing that I had allowed this kind of a campaign to go on for this many days. Please for the Johnson family and this community IFHS administration take a stand!Flag

Name: A Proud Supporter on Dec 2, 2012Comments: I believe this petition was started with the sole intent of letting Coach Johnson (and his family) know that they are appreciated. Coach has impacted hundreds (thousands, most likely) of members of the Idaho Falls community. I've loved reading the stories of lives he has changed, and I know they are just the tip of the iceberg. It saddens me deeply that there have been a couple of very inappropriate comments made in this forum. To those individuals, if you are reading this--please, stop the hatred. This is not the place for that --come to think of it, there is NO place for that. Please treat Coach and his family with the respect they richly deserve. This is a family who has treated EVERYONE with respect and dignity always.Flag

Name: Friends Of The Johnson Family on Dec 2, 2012Comments: With great sorrow, I have observed this campaign to malign Chuck. This modern day witch hunt has hurt Chuck and his family deeply. I will honor the confidentiality of the Johnson family in so much as to inform the community that the hate and lies spewed by a small group have had a physical effect on the Johnson Family These modern day witch hunters have taken down their petition. Their gesture is too little too late. They took down their petition only after inflicting irreversible damage to the Johnson Family. They took down their petition only after learning, at Sunday services, about the damage they created. I hope they are all feeling super Christian now. To those of you who did not have enough courage to just talk to Chuck about your concerns-shame on you. To those of you who spoke publically against Chuck and then have tried to maintain your friendship with the family - they do not need friends like you. Jaculin and Chuck are too classy to tell you this. Let me tell you - you are not a friend. Leave the Johnson Family alone. They are better off without you. Chuck, Jaculin, Brittany and Chase – hang in there. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Jaculin and Chuck, it is an honor to know and work with you. We support you and thank you for your service to Idaho Falls High School and the community.Flag

But when you lose the respect of many if not most of the coaches, Boosters, & most importantly, the KIDS, it's time for a change! The "remove chuck" petition has been taken off-line, due to the Ignorant statements made on this petition. Some of the statements made concerning Religion?! Really?! Shows that you are not thinking about the football "program" at all. It is in the School Board members hands now, I hope that Chucks PERFORMANCE speaks for itself! & the correct decision made for the future FOOTBALL players! If not the 2013 season will be exactly what IF deserves.Flag

Name: Can It All End Now? on Dec 3, 2012Comments: Please for the sake of Coach J and his family can this all just end now. You horrid people still trying to post on here go home and whine to someone else. Y'all have fractured a community and hurt a family that has done nothing but love and support Idaho Falls and IFHS. You horrible people have to look at yourselves in the mirror every morning so I pitty you and the ugliness you see in the mirror for witch hunting an amazing Coach and family. Those of you still not giving this up should be so ashamed of yourselves. This is not what the IF community is about and it's men like Chuck Johnson that exemplify the good in this community.Flag

Name: I Support The Johnson Family on Dec 3, 2012Comments: The mean spirited petition has been taken down. And yes, it was asked to be taken down in the Ward. this Sunday I know because I was there. I do believe that this was not about religion. However, I believe my Sisters and Brothers could better follow their religious principles. They need to stop the mean spirited talk. I believe that there are many in the Ward who have no real perspective of their sons' athletic abilities. Instead of accepting that their sons' are mediocre athletes, they choose to blame Coach Johnson for their sons' lack of work ethic and talent. I am ashamed of some members in my Ward. If someone wants to say it is about religion perhaps we need to take a good look at ourselves. Many of us have not held true to the best of our beliefs.Flag

Name: Football Mom on Dec 3, 2012Comments: It is time to stop all of this. I was very pleased to hear from my son that Principal Hurley announced to the football team that Coach Johnson will be the IFHS head football Coach. And guess what, all the boys are very happy to have Coach Johnson. I should say all - except for a handful of boys whose families have poisoned them against Coach with their delusions of grandeur. My son tells me that the boys whose parents are creating the problems have boys who have not yet entered high school. Or they are boys who are just plain lazy. Stop all of this. If you do not want your boy playing for Coach Johnson then move.Flag

Name: Mole on Dec 8, 2012Comments: Please continue to offer your support for Coach Johnson. However, now it imperative you go a step further. You must contact the school board and let them know you support Coach. I offer this advice because while the “other” petition may be down, the people who started it are now targeting the school board with their agenda. I know of this because I know their plans. As the majority, who believe Chuck is the best Coach for IFHS football, we must stop the mean spirited agenda of a very small group. Contact the school board now. Let them know you support Chuck Johnson as head football coach of IFHSFlag

He shows a great passion for coaching kids into becoming better people as they grow into adulthood. It would be a shame to lose a coach who is such an inspiration to those who know him. It is rare to find such devotion. He is the kind of coach that these kids will always remember and appreciate long after the lights of the stadium go out.Flag
