In the aftermath of the shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, we the undersigned, in an effort to avoid this type of tragedy from occurring at Cumberland High School, would like to present the following preventative recommendations: We are asking for your signature to have metal detectors installed at every entrance at Cumberland High School. We need to take action to protect our children as soon as possible. Since 1996 there have been over 50 school related shootings in The United States. Schools are supposed to be the place where kids feel safe, where they don't have to worry about anything but being successful. How can a student feel safe when there is nothing stopping someone from bringing a dangerous weapon into the school? Please sign our petition so that we may present it to the school department in our effort to improve school safety.
