PETITION LETTER: Dear Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, In this melting pot of cultural diversity, foreign languages are the key to growth and understanding in the world today. In a increasingly competitive world, exposing our children to multiple languages is the best option for a globally enhanced future. Foreign languages in elementary schools should be mandatory, as that is the time a child is at his greater capacity to absorb information. The ability to speak more than one languages sets children up for success in both their personal and professional lives. It is a way to connect individuals, and thus, the rest of the world. Just as math and science must be taught, so should the cultural diversity that ties us into the world today. I urge you to change the current established curriculum to include foreign language in elementary schools.
