Name: Daniel W Boatwright on Feb 4, 2013Comments: Chief Norwood is an professional in his field. He commands the respect of the citizens, the officers and other professionals in the area. I feel that part of the problem with crime in the city is that a police chief in the city of Richmond is replaced and this has a negative impact on the officers and the citizens. Please keep Chief Norwood on the job for the betterment of Richmond. Thank ou.Flag

Name: LaVerne T. Russell on Feb 5, 2013Comments: As a resident of the city of Richmond since birth, I have to be clear on my position. No other Chief of Police of our city has presented the level of true integrity and valuable concern for all locations in our area. He has come to the city with innovative strategies to make citizens aware of and involved in the reduction of crime. For the first time, residents have a sense of belonging, a positive connection to the Police Department and a willingness to collaborate on finding ways to keep our city safe. I have gotten reports from residents from Chesterfield County who have encountered Richmond City Police Officers and they have said never have they experienced professional, respectful officers who upheld the law but used no brute or unnecessary force when had similar incidents had happened in the past or even in Chesterfield, the results would have been horrendous. This speaks to the positive morale of the police force. Not that everything is perfect, for no organization will (especially in city government) will go without some negative aspects. However, the overall morale, commitment and professionalism of our men and women in blue has far exceeded every other term with other predecessors. Mayor Jones, as a man of faith, I am hoping you of all mayors and leaders would understand the work that is being done through the Faith-based community that is affecting the most positive changes. Chief Norwood, has set an excellent example before children, youth and adults from all walks of life. It is obvious that his commitment is greater than "duties" as assigned because he has gone far beyond the call of duty. It is my prayer as a minister working in the inner city that Chief Norwood remain in the position as Chief of Police in our city--the City of Richmond that I am so proud to have been born and raised in.Flag

Name: Pastor Poindexie Russell on Feb 5, 2013Comments: I was disheartened to hear about the plans to remove Chief Norwood from the position of Chief of Police. Never before have we had a police chief with the heart, compassion, integrity and true innovative foresight to move our city in the positive direction of stopping and reducing crime. I serve as a Pastor of Richmond residents with criminal backgrounds. Because Chief Norwood's efforts through the Faith Leaders' Initiative, these same members are positively involved in outreach projects sponsored by the Faith Leaders' Initiative which is led by Chief Norwood. They now believe they are part of the solution rather than being a constant part of the problem. Because of Chief Norwood's integrity, positive results and setting the example before the community at large and his heart to serve, I request that Chief Norwood remain in the position as Chief of Police in the City of Richmond.Flag

Name: Darlene Wilbon on Feb 6, 2013Comments: Chief Bryan T. Norwood is and always will be the best in what he do. I've watched Chief Norwood take on the streets and turn things around for the residents.Chief Norwood has always put the city and the residents first making the community a safer place to live. I strongly recommend that Chief Norwood remains the Chief of police @ RPD. To remove him from his position you are strongly stating to the public that they will stand alone to fight crime and anything else that arise.Flag
