Name: Samantha Campbell on Mar 14, 2010Comments: The chiari institute saved my life. There aftercare was amazing and my family and I were more than grateful for their help. At first they told me I might never walk again while I was in my wheelchair, but through long hours of therapy and their awesome aftercare I recovered and I was happier than ever. Later I got another surgery that helped me even more. Nobody else could ever do anything for me like that again. That is why I insist for the team back.Flag

Name: Dianna Carr on Mar 14, 2010Comments: this team of drs saved my child's life and if it weren't for their specialized way of dealing with her disorder she would be dead by now. our dr's in the state of maine told us there was nothing more they could do for her and when we went to ny we found out the decompression he had done here didn't hold and she was leaking csf fluid again. these kids and adults need dr's trained in taking care of chiari and all the conditions that present with it not some bozos that just graduated from clown school and don't know what they are doing.if we travel down ny from maine we go because they are the BEST and they know more than anyone else in the nation about what they do.!Flag

Name: Pastor Al Johnson on Mar 14, 2010Comments: In my experience with such a patient, it is quite evident that specialized care after surgery is needed. The frustration expressed by loved ones is tremendous as the post-op complications are not "normal" . I pray that the 'Chiari" team is allowed to continue.Flag

Name: Jennifer Botbyl on Mar 14, 2010Comments: Please reinstate the team for chiari patients!!!! I feel we need a team that is knowledgeable in what my children have to get the best care possible for them. The team that Northshore had for TCI patients was awesome, they knew what we needed and fought for it. Jennifer Botbyl and Campbell FamilyFlag

Name: Alaina Guay on Mar 14, 2010Comments: Most people who know me know what I have gone through, which means they most likely know that all of my surgeries were done at North Shore. Most of my surgeries were done when the team was still together, and even I've noticed a difference in everything. Nobody talks to eachother any more, so everybody is clueless about whats going on, even as they walk through the door. I want the team back together so nothing bad happens.Flag

Name: Catherine S Broome on Mar 15, 2010Comments: It is imperative that professionals that are specifically trained in Chiari and these rare neurological disorders take care of patients postoperatively in the hospital. General physicians and general PA's do not have the knowledge required to care for these patients. Most general physicians do not even know what Chiari is, much less how to care for a patient after surgery. Please consider reinstating a specialized team to care for Chiari patients as this is the safest for the patients involved.Flag

Name: Alice Guy on Mar 15, 2010Comments: It is extremely important to the care of the Patients that the PA's with experience are available daily to the post-op patients. My daughter Amelia had her 4th surgery last July ('09) and the difference was DRAMATIC...not is a good way....from when the PA's were there.Flag

Name: Kathleen Grigg on Mar 15, 2010Comments: I am founder of Chiari Connection International, and patient of Dr. Milhorat and Bolognese since 1998. I have had surgery at North Shore in December 2009 and 2010 and have been terrible disappointed with the PA care in NSCU and on the floor. I have written letters but haven't heard back. The care was so much better when Chiari patients had our own Chiari PA's. We are better off without a PA than to have the PA's that are assigned to us now.Flag

Name: Ed And Lisa Currall Jr. on Mar 15, 2010Comments: Our surgeons at TCI are wonderful and so is the staff at NSLIJ. We travel 3,000 miles at great sacrifice to our family to go to NY for care. However, the absence of the Chiari team, most notably the PA's, has made after care substantially less comprehensive. Those PA's could spot a possible problem long before it became critical, were excellent at getting the kids up and around, and provided an expertise gone since they were removed. The residents and attendings are great but do not have the specialized knowledge needed post op by our children. PLEASE bring the team back. Ed and Lisa CurrallFlag

Name: Jamie Compton on Apr 28, 2010Comments: This is a terribly sad situation. You have taken part of our children's most important care and dismantled it like it was nothing. The PAs that worked with these children knew their cases and diagnoses and had the experience necessary to care for our kids. Yes the residents and attendings maybe somewhat knowlegable of this condition but they do not have the expertise or experience needed to do the job RIGHT! You must reinstate the team for our childrens' sake. They are the only ones hurting from this terrible decision that you have made!Flag
