   Comments: It is not right that just because our ancestors were not on Dawes that we be forbidden to claim our heritage. Excerpt from Remnants of a Great nation Divided In just twenty years, from 1880 to 1900, the Indians in Amherst County were systematically erased from the record books by the stroke of a pen. They were forced by law in 1705 to be called "mulatto" and then called "black" in 1900. Many of the Cherokee descendants of Amherst County accepted this term without resistance. In fact, by 1850, as "Free Inhabitants" of Amherst County, the Cherokee families lived in the communities with blacks and whites and many of the families "went" for black or white, depending on the racial community in which they lived and felt secure ( p. 37). We want the right to reclaim our heritage

    Comments: If the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts can form organizations to learn certain skills, moral lessons, ect., the Class IV Cherokee Descendnts have the right to form an organization to carry on their own traditions, stories, history, genaeology, etc.

    Comments: Many Cherokee and other tribal members left their ancestral homes either voluntarily or involuntarily. Just because some settled in a place that was not a reservation does not mean they were not (or are not) Cherokee. Also, there are many Native Americans that are not part of a registered tribe that are not interested in obtaining Federal benefits. The tribes that were imprisoned on reservations deserve compensation. However, this should not mean that other Native Americans cannot organize or maintain their culture.

    Comments: We Cherokee People also known as aniyuniwa (the original people) have been in these lands 30.000 years before any BIA and we will be here long after the passing into oblivian of the BIA. No Official of Taliqua can force any of us to become BIA nor will we stand for any intimidation from chad smith or any other so called BIA elected tribal president. By our true laws of our culture and heritage every band clan tribe elects their own leadership. We do not elect councils or chiefs every so many years. True Cherokees still go by the matriarchal system, are Blessed Women Our Clan Mothers Our Tribal Mother. These people the subscribe to being bullied or to bully others where are their blessed women to set the wrongs being done. All Cherokees go back to our original ways and learn your heritage and culture so no one can bully you or tell you your not aniyuniwa
