Comments: This screening would have significantly reduced my daughter's first hospital stay. By the time we knew something was wrong at 8 days old, she was in cardiac shock. She had to be stabalized before her first surgery could be performed...this took 4 weeks.

Comments: My son was not screened at birth and he almost died after we came home. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect . Had we known about the problem we would have had him in the hospital immediately and wouldn't have risked his life. PLEASE test babies at birth. This could save a life. Maybe your own child's or grandchild's life.

Comments: In my opinion this is a very necessary test for newborns. I thought it was already done. By using the pulse ox on newborns maybe lives could be saved or at least be treated earlier than waiting weeks or months & then find out the baby has a problem.

Comments: I am happy to sign this petition. Almost six years ago kids like our family became parents of a CHD child. "Miles is our miracle boy thanks to the wonderful care he has received from the doctors at Vanderbilt. "Childrens lives should never be about politics" only requested by a leading physician in the that specialty, patients visited firsthand if necessary, and approved. Why does it have to be so difficult and long to get things done in TN
