Name: Pullmy Dick on Jan 23, 2008City: PortlandState: OregonZip code: 97214Comments: I think this is a terrible idea. Why the fuck do we need to change the name of Portland streets to honor someone who had minimal impact on the advancement of this country. There are scientists, researchers and visionaries who have done much more than Chavez who should have streets named after them long before anything is named after Chavez. It was a shameful and wasteful act to name a street after Rosa Parks (who was picked to refuse to get out of her seat because she was pretty and was bailed out of jail very quickly- it was NOT some spontaneous act by her and she never did anything the rest of her life).Flag

So, what if business are not happy about the name change look at all the people who had to change their checkbooks, and address when MLK, Naito and Rosa Parks was changed.Flag

He was a great leader that helped this country progressed. Its time people recognize him for what he has done for all of us, not just the Latino community.Flag

I recently moved to the Northwest and as a white person, want to live in the kind of community that values Cesar Chavez and his living legacy.Flag
