Comments: My heart breaks for each and every circumstance here. I have been either a science teacher or school administrator for the past 10 years. In June I received notice that my position was being abolished due to budget cuts. We have our mortgage with Chase. Simultaneously Chase added 500.00 to our current mortgage payment ( paid regularly for 1.5 years) stating they "noticed" a deficit in escrow? No explanation..no prior notice..so our payment increased from 3,464 to 3,964 the same month I lost my position. Thankfully my husband still has his position, however, on Long Island, dropping to one income with three kids in college left us unable to make the regular payment, let alone the increased payment. We started the loan modification process in July and were notified our three trial payments would be close to what the reduced payment would be once approved for final modification 2,800. The 3 mos turned into 7 mos. During this time I am still unemployed and receive the maximum 405.00 weekly in unemployment. We faxed and resubmitted the same documents time and again. Every month we received late statements with no record, other than my bank statements, showing the reduced payments made monthly. Finally we receive the fedex with the final paperwork. I will not waste time including the hours and hours on hold, talking to representatives that had conflicting stories on the same day, and the emotional and physical impact this has had on our lives. I see we have all experienced the same incompetence and lack of decency provided by Chase. I open the FEDEX with trembling hands, tears of joy streaming down my face....yes the 2800.00 monthly will continue to be a struggle but we can remain in our home right?????? Chase added over 21,000 to our principal increasing it from 354,000 to over 370,000, our monthly payment ongoing will be over 3,400 a month. 67.00 a month less than when we started this whole process. Mind you, it arrived stating I have 12 days to sign and return. I left 27 messages for the loan negotiator. Not one returned. I spoke to 9 chase employess in the loss mitigation office before one connected me to the negotiators supervisor voice mail. I left 6 messages with him without response. Finally another Chase representative emailed the loan negotiator internally and her supervisor. The negotiator finally called me. When I questioned her figures... we were given a drop in interest rate from 6.75% to 4.75% and yet the monthlypayments were 67.00 less? She stated that we have a balance of 39,000 dollars due and that was the best they could do for us. When I got up off the floor...I asked her how we had a 39,000 past due amount when we have been making the requiredpayments and had not been late at the onset of this process, she could not answer. 3 days and a nervous break down later,I contacted the executive office for Chase today at 3:00 PM EST. By 3:45 the negotiator called me and said that even though she knew nothing would change..she would have her supervisor( the one who did not return over 16voice mail messages from me prior) look over the account!!! I have 4 days left to sign and return this modification before the whole thing expires. What Chase is doing to loyal, hard working and honest customers is criminal!! I have an attorney assisting me. Call me @ 631-846-7532

Comments: Chase is doing the same exact thing to me and my husband too! They cashed our check and never applied the payment to our account. I have not paid the accruing late fees because I won't! I have been dealing with them over the phone, sent faxes of our statements, sent certified letters of our statements, talked to supervisors and keep getting harrasing calls from 6a-9p. Screw Chase! They even hang up on me too, even when I'm being cordial:) This problem has been going on since June 2009!!!!

Comments: Those are the simple tricks they start with. Next they will be dipping into your escrow, probably without your knowledge. They might pay for some "force-placed" insurance and take your tax money for the premium. Then when you think you are on solid ground and everything is up-to-date, they will come up with some new trick to put you behind on your payments. I have a little advice after dealing with them for so long. 1. Never, ever send a paper check for your payment. Only wire them money for your payment via your on-line banking. 2. Take names of everyone you speak with when you call, and request explanations for any issue you do not understand. Keep a detailed log of whom you speak with and which department they represent. You will soon find you are sent back and forth like a hot potatoe. They don't like anyone challenging them. 3. Call them after every transaction. "I just wanted to call and make sure you got my payment." They really do appear to keep phone records. Every now and again you will find a helpful representative. I once had a fellow tell me "it looks like we shorted your escrow account and now it has a negative balance. That is not legal." Well, hello!!! But, when the BIG suit finally comes, phone records will be great in court. 4. If you can afford to hire an attorney, even for a few hours, as a means of gathering your information into a logical and cogent sequence of events, it could prove invaluable. I have done this and once recouped a $2000 flood insurance premium. Of course I had to pay half to my lawyer, but it was worth it. 5. The victims here are not just the unfortunate ones who have lost jobs, or suffered bad health, or divorce. These practices were in place years before the "great recession". Don't blame this on the economy. JP MORGAN CHASE is the original vile, criminal, fraudulent thief. They were the original evil at the beginning of the mortgage meltdown. The majority of what is happening now is not because people are down and out. It is because they are being defrauded.

Comments: I had to file BANKRUPCY due to a hardship and our economy. Prior to this I had been begging for help so that I would not become dilinquent. I was being pro active. The more I tried the tougher it became. I was denied and literally told to default so that I could get help. Due to these statements and their lack of competent employees, I slowly found myself more in debt and in financial stress. I had to file bankrupcy and ruin the excellent credit that I worked so hard to keep in order to keep up with my mortgage. I was very discouraged and extremely down about the entire ordeal!

Comments: I have been jumping thru the Chase hoops since March 2007 when I first asked for a modification. I sent letters to Associated Press, CNN, President Obama, even James Diamond-CEO Chase explaining the problems. After next day air delivery to Chase's CEO I finally got a call from the executive resolution group. Only to jump thru yet more hoops and only get a 1/4% knocked off my current 11% mortgage. As I continue to jump thru these hoops I was called by Chase and told I qualify for the "Making Home Affordable" program and needed to join. I was told to make the 3 months of trial payments and my loan would be modified. I started that in September 2009, it's now March 2010 and after 7 months of always paying before the 1st of the month, and continued to jump repeatedly through the hoops, letters, phone calls that I was missing paperwork, that I was fine they had everything, to I was missing paperwork again. I just received in today's mail a letter from Chase stating that I don't qualify for the MHA program, and if I want an explanation as to why I had to write them a letter within 30 days asking for it, that my only choices were to pay the past due amount ot sign over my house to them. Why is it that Chase was the first to ask for "Bail out money" from the government, but yet there isn't anyone that is willing to bail out the homeowners from bank like Chase? There are over 6,000 foreclosures in the courts of Milwaukee County alone, how many of those are Chase? Does that mean Chase will be going back to Uncle Sam for more bail out, while they ROB the home Owners? Practices such as these, as well as everyone else who is in this blog and or others seeking help and relief, should be thinking class-action law suit against Chase. I think the government as well as policy makers would take great interest in 100 to 1000 persons filing suit against Chase apposed to 10 - 20. Non the less, I have worked very hard to get my home for my family, and like so many others here have fallen victim to the harsh economy and job losses, but I will fight to the end to keep a roof over my family's head.

Comments: Chase Home Finance - Fraudulent if ever there was a company. How is it that they can TAKE BILLIONS from Americans and have NO ACCOUNTABILITY for the funds?? That was certainly MY experience.

Comments: I have had numerous payments sent to Chase and they have lost them. I now have the Post Office involved and the Post Office believes that the processing centers may be shredding the payments. I now make copies of all my payments, before I send them. I may have to start sending my payments by certified mail. The last time this happened to me I was unable to prove I sent my payments. This time I have proof. I'm just waiting on the lawyers to find out what Chase did with my payments. If I send them another check or money order, I'm afraid they will cash my other checks too.
