VERSION FRANÇAISE APRÈS L'ANGLAIS This is a call to all for all divers in the Quebec and Ontario diving communitee to help keep the dive charters running in Brockville past October 31st of this year. It was was made known that the city of Brockville has asked all the dive charters to remove their boats from the river by October 31st. However, the river is still supporing warmer temperaturer this year and diving would still possible. There are still divers who wish to dive in Brockville after this date because of the warmer water. We all know that diving seasons seems to move around the calendar year over year, however, this ususally means the dive season starts later next year. It's still possible to do some good diving in the months of November and December. Helen from ABUCS Dive Charters is still running charters but can only operate one of her boats at this time and she had to fight the city to allow that one boat to operate. Helen can only run her smallest boat, this means she will have to refuse divers if the group is too big reducing her potential income for the year. The dive season is short as it is and a charter boat costs a lot to maintain, so the charters need all the time on the river they can get to TRY to make a living. Running her boats does not cost the city a a dime. Helen is also owner of the only dive shop in Brockville (Dive Brockville, the small blue house next to the river and close from Centeen park), that means SHE'S A TAX PAYER all year long. Please sign this petition and feel free to add a comment to encourage the city to realize that the dive season doesn't end on October 31st and to ask them to let Helen to continue running boats till the end of the 'dive season'. VERSION FRANÇAISE: Ceci est un appel à toute la communauté des plongeurs afin d'aider la très gentille et professionelle Helen Cooper de Dive Brockville et ABUCS. Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, Helen est la propriétaire de la boutique de plongée à Brockville (la petite maison bleue près de la rive). Ses bateaux sont: Emily C., Helen C. et le "The Amiral". La ville de Brockville a demandé à tous les charters de sortir leurs bateau de l'eau au 31 Octobre dernier. Cependant, comme nous le savons tous, il semble que les saisons commencent à se déplacer. L'été arrive plus tard et il fait encore chaud assez tard dans l'année. Ceci fait que la plongée est encore possible même en Novembre, voir même en Décembre (l'eau était encore chaude la fin de semaine dernière). De plus, un bateau ça coûte CHER! Encore plus quand il s'agit d'un charter. Cela prends donc de nombreuses années avant que cela rapporte quelque chose surtout qu'on est au Canada et pas en Floride. Ceci est donc une pétition afin que la ville de Brockville permette à Helen de continuer à opérer ses bateaux jusqu'à la toute fin de la saison de plongée. Cela n'occasionne aucun frais à la ville et une autre bonne raison est qu'elle paye des taxes à la ville en ayant un commerce sur place. Donc la ville nuit à un de ses payeurs de taxes. Incroyable, mais vrai! Il y a aussi des gens qui veulent continuer à plonger même si les bouées ont été enlevées (on peut faire un "hot drop". Aidez Helen et Dive Brockville ainsi que toute la communautée des plongeurs en signant cette pétition et faites passer le mot!!
