Dear Councillor McHattie,

We are asking for your support to request the City to undertake traffic calming measures on Charlton Avenue West between Queen and Locke Streets. Charlton Street west of Queen is a narrower neighbourhood street with houses on both sides. The neighbourhood park fronting on this portion of Charlton is very actively used and many school children cross Charlton Avenue to walk through the park to Ryerson School. Synchronized green lights encourage cars to speed through our neighbourhood often missing the stop sign at Kent and Charlton Avenue. This is a potentially dangerous situation particularly for children. The speeding traffic is detracting from the livability of our neighbourhood. We would like the city to consider appropriate measures to calm the traffic on this portion of Charlton Avenue West (Queen to Locke) including lowering the speed limit to 40 km per hour, de-synchronization of green lights heading west on Charlton and any other appropriate measures.
