| 1 | Joanna Molyn | I completely agree. I think Charlton is completely out of balance and needs of people, like us, are ignored. We need a nice place to go and have a coffe, other than Charlton House, and we definitely do NOT need more hairdressers! |

| 4 | Sarah Pearce | The quality of the shops in Charlton village is depressingly poor, there are more hairdressers than we could possibly need and more than enough food shops. There are however very few places to get something decent to sit down and have something to eat and drink (day and night) - especially if you're female and unwilling to go into the pubs on your own. I would urge the council to give serious consideration to anyone applying for a lease wanting to provide this kind of service. |
| 5 | Greg Blanchfield | Yes, Charlton deserves better! |
| 6 | nicola white | |
| 7 | vicki parkes | there is definitely a big gap in the marketplace here - i would definitely use it! |
| 8 | Chris Weymouth | Absolutely. I couldn't agree more - time for a place to sit down that isn't Charlton House or a pub. |

| 14 | Antonia Nicol | I agree. When I saw yet another African food shop being opened where the framers were when the last African food shop in the area clearly failed and has been closed for years, I wondered if anyone actually does anything in Greenwich Council. Charlton Village has so much potential and Greenwich Council are wasting that opportunity! |
| 15 | Janice Draper | It doesn't make sense to have people travelling to other parts of London for somrthing so basic which should be on their doorstep. Surely it would make more sense to keep trade in the local area? |
| 16 | p.Humpage | what a fantastic idea. |
| 17 | Rosie Grieves | We definitely need a decent cafe in Charlton. I would love to be able to sit somewhere nice and have coffee and cake without having to schlep all the way to Greenwich or Blackheath. |
| 18 | Charlie Norfolk | We could have a cafe with a deli...! |

| 22 | christine cassell | Bring Buenos Aires Cafe to Charlton or another independent coffee shop, a book shop a deli anything that makes us not the poor relation to Greenwich and Blackheath! |
| 23 | Anonymous | I felt that afer a few glasses of wine I shouls speak my mind! I do NOT want any parnsips and oriental horseraddish..instead I want more restaurants, boutiques, theatres, coffee shops and wine bars in the area. If you can provide those, I will be obliged and spend lots of money. Yours faithfully, Deprieved Charlton Resident |
| 24 | Hazel Richardson | I'd love to see a nice cafe in Charlton. Local shopping areas like Charlton need a cafe to bring them more alive and to encourage people into the area and to linger and get talking - and to buy more here!
I think a deli serving really good coffee and offering some interesting food items could do really well in Charlton. Between them our Turkish Costcutter and the Co-op give us a useful though limited range, but the Co-op can be outrageously overpriced and is now crammed with chocolate and sweets.
I, too, wonder what Greenwich Council is doing offering rentals for shops of which we already have an overabundance, such as hairdressers, or for others which cannot find enough custom here to enable them to survive, such as African foodshops. This is seriously misleading to the retailers and deprives us of a good shop. |
| 25 | Marrianne Town Smith | I would love for Charlton's shops and village to be brought into the twenty first century whilst still preserving the look and feel of the "village". A coffee shop or cafe and some decent restaurants would really rejuvinate the area and bring welcome footfall to the village. |
| 26 | Julie Wall Martin | I totally agree. Please retain the integrity of the charming village. A tea room/cafe would be a welcome addition. J.M. |

| 32 | Anonymous | There is no reason not to allow a deli/cafe in Charlton particuarly given the number of unused units in the village. The unit next to Dressmaker Valerie would make a particuarly nice cafe if tables were allowed on the pavement |
| 33 | John Tidy | The extended licencing laws were intended to move drinking patterns towards the social european style. The problem in many areas is that the UK has pubs, but not places that people can comfortably sit with the paper over a coffee or a glass of wine for an hour or two.
In the 1980s we had a restaurant that was ahead of it's time - at least as far as Charlton was concerned. '18 The Viallge' did not survive, but if it had I'm sure the enterprising couple that ran it would have adapted to customer preferences and we would have the much needed cafe this petition calls for.
Give us a community facility - approve the cafe. |
| 34 | Nevil Hade | Every neighbourhood needs a decent cafe - they encourage socialising and create a great atmosphere! |
| 35 | Andy smith | It would be nice to see a coffee shop in the village where you can just sit out and chill and watch the world go by. |
| 36 | Osama Bin Charlton | Way the Addicks!! |
| 37 | Anonymous | This seems like a fantastic idea, particularly as the Charlton area seems to be attracting greater numbers of young, single professionals and overseas visitors. The addition of a cafe or deli would add an extrra dimension to life in the village without taking anything away from the existing community atmosphere. |
| 38 | Kerry daniels | I have lived in charlton all my life and walk through the village everyday, i must say things have changed and dare i say it for the worse, we have to many "sweetshops" a chemist i never see do any trade and last time i counted there were 3 hairdressers! we do need a cafe or deli and it would make the village feel more homely to me as i feel the village has become yet another community that is slowly losing it's character and village feel.

| 42 | Anonymous | I agree that it is about time Charlton should have cafes, restaurants and wine bars. With such beautiful and historical architecture, unknown to many londoners, if Charlton village starts to develop its tourist and local amenities, everybody will be a winner! |
