Comments: All summer, during Spanish School and summer research endeavors of mine while a student, all the visitors and summer students truly adored all the matrimonial festivities in Mead Chapel. Please give this couple a chance to add to the community feeling of Homecoming Weekend this fall! Sincerely, Meagan Dodge '03

Comments: What a stellar display of pride for one's alma mater. It would be a crime not to celebrate this wonderful Middlebury-inspired union somewhere other than in Mead Chapel.

Comments: Speaking from experience, I cannot imagine any alumni being anything but supportive about having an alumni wedding take place at Homecoming. The pride and love for Middlebury among alumni is what makes the college what it is....

Comments: I can't believe that this isn't being allowed. Some of my fondest memories were of noticing weddings being held at the Chapel on Saturdays!

Comments: Jeff and Stephanie deserve all the happiness in the world. As a Midd alumn, I would not have ANY problems with them using Mead Chapel during Homecoming 2005. So much for always being welcome at your alma mater.

Comments: To Whom It May Concern, Jeff's points are spot on. It would take an incredibly grumpy and/or cynical alumnus to see a Middlebury wedding going on in the Chapel and think "hey, those jerks are infringing upon my right to wander freely around the Chapel for the next 45 minutes. How can Middlebury have allowed this travesty to occur" I, for one, would be very touched upon seeing such an event -- even if I were not familiar with the couple being married. At the very least, nothing bad can come of allowing those walls of ivy to be filled with a little married bliss for 45 minutes -- and it would certainly help perpetuate that happy, mythical statistic concerning marriage rate among Middlebury alumni. I sincerely hope Middlebury reconsiders its stance on this matter and recognizes that this ceremony would only aid in enhancing positive, nostalgic thinking in returning alums. I'll be disappointed if Jeff and Stephanie are unable to proceed with their plans. Sincerely, Barry C. Nelson '00

Comments: I believe a wedding in Mead Chapel is an event that most alumni would enjoy- Please allow my good friend Jeff Rettew's wedding to take place in Mead.

Comments: Jeff is right! In the grand scheme of alumni weekend, 30-45 minutes is nothing. Plus, if reminiscing about Mead Chapel is also a factor, think of the memories that will be created by visiting alums, seeing a wedding take place. A wedding is one of the many uses of a chapel, isn't it

Comments: My husband is the Great Grandson of the late Governor John Abner Mead, after whom the chapel is named. Tell them we said you should be able to use the Mead Chapel for the most sacred of all ceremonies...your wedding.
