Name: Jessica Salerno on Mar 1, 2005State: VTCountry: USComments: Speaking from experience, I cannot imagine any alumni being anything but supportive about having an alumni wedding take place at Homecoming. The pride and love for Middlebury among alumni is what makes the college what it is....Flag

Name: Barry Nelson on Mar 3, 2005State: NYCountry: USComments: To Whom It May Concern, Jeff's points are spot on. It would take an incredibly grumpy and/or cynical alumnus to see a Middlebury wedding going on in the Chapel and think "hey, those jerks are infringing upon my right to wander freely around the Chapel for the next 45 minutes. How can Middlebury have allowed this travesty to occur" I, for one, would be very touched upon seeing such an event -- even if I were not familiar with the couple being married. At the very least, nothing bad can come of allowing those walls of ivy to be filled with a little married bliss for 45 minutes -- and it would certainly help perpetuate that happy, mythical statistic concerning marriage rate among Middlebury alumni. I sincerely hope Middlebury reconsiders its stance on this matter and recognizes that this ceremony would only aid in enhancing positive, nostalgic thinking in returning alums. I'll be disappointed if Jeff and Stephanie are unable to proceed with their plans. Sincerely, Barry C. Nelson '00Flag

Name: Mary Gerrie on Mar 3, 2005State: PACountry:Comments: Jeff is right! In the grand scheme of alumni weekend, 30-45 minutes is nothing. Plus, if reminiscing about Mead Chapel is also a factor, think of the memories that will be created by visiting alums, seeing a wedding take place. A wedding is one of the many uses of a chapel, isn't itFlag
