As a recent purchaser of an Acer notebook which has never worked properly since day 1, I am appalled that the only option I am being given is for a repair - shipping at my own expense. I have already been advised by Acer by email (and have complied) to carry out a factory reset (in fact I have done it 3 times) but to no avail.

My particular problem with my laptop is lack of response speed and virtually no wifi - very slow within the boundaries of my own broadband and non-existent elsewhere. This problem, I have noted, is well documented and being suffered by 000s of other users as per the Acer community website and elsewhere. So why are they still selling these goods if they are clearly rubbish to start with?

Under the Sale of Goods Act consumers are entitled to a refund in the early stages of purchase - it is simply not good enough to say "well you've used it now". How else are we to know that it is not fit for our purpose if we do not try it out? Did you also know that if you have bought a product on credit, this may well give you additional rights.

It is high time now that Acer and all other similar manufacturers must give their consumer public a fairer deal by allowing them to return goods for a full refund if that is what they want. These products are not cheap and the general public have suffered long and hard enough during the economic downturn when it comes to spending hard earned cash on endless price increases on absolutely everything!
