I believe Pennsylvania needs their laws changed for reporting Accidents to the Authorities! Here are a list of things that happened personally to me and why I believe the laws should be changed. It allowsthe person whom hits you to not call in and report the wreck to their insurance Company! I believe it needs to be reported right away! Not days or months later! No One should have to wait on someone who causes an accident!It alsoallows the person whom hit you for their Insurance Company not to move forward with anything and to delay everything until they speak with them! Which in return leave you and your family in Havoc because we all have to work or do all of our daily every day life things and with out a car it is pretty hard to do all of that stuff. Then having to deal with all the stress on top of that at trying to get the persons insurance company to comply with your needs. I feel if a vehiclesDOOR will not shut properly after a wreck has occured, no matter if it is drivable it should be aReportable Accidentand police should respond.I had to drive my car down the road with the door not latched properly and this in it self is a danger to ever person on the road.When I took it to the repair shop they told me I should not be driving the vehicle because it was not safe! What if my door opened up and hit an oncoming car and killed someone! What if my door opened up while I was driving and there were not oncoming traffic.... there are still a bunch of terrible things that could or could not happen. The police would not respond to my accident because they say my car was drivable and it was a NON REPORTABLE ACCIDENTeven though the door would notshut properly.I was terrified driving 14 miles home with my child in the car with me! By not responding to my callthis left a window for the person whom hit me to not respond to his insurance company to report the accident. He never did Report it I did. Also leaving his insurance company unable to move forward with my claim because the person would not respond to his insurance companies phone calls, emails and letters that were sent. Without police documentation of the wreck you have to have witnesses! WHAT IF THERE WERE NO WITNESSES! I was lucky because I was able to use my insuranceto cover everything. I had full coverage to cover everthing like the rental car, but there are lots of people who can only afford liability on their vehicles and they would be left waiting with out a car. Please sign my petition to have the Laws in Pennsylvania changed so you or your family will never be faced with the same problems as me and my family had to facetoday.
