My name is Sarah Burke i am a 30yr old single mom of 3 in 2009 i was in a abusive relationship that has left me disabled i broke free on 12/10/2009 from my abuser. So in August of this year i meet a man at the corner store we became friends and started talking just as friends a few days into it he started in to me about haven a relationship i declined and decided to check into his background finding he was a abuser i decided i would no longer talk to him.. when he kept calling and sending text messages and i did not answer he got highly angry around 130am he showed up to my house beating all the down the front of my house including my bedroom window i laid quietly my 9 yr old daughter awoke crying i sent her back to bed and walked out the door to quiet him down and tell him to leave i noticed he was drunk i told him i wasn't dealing with him while he was drunk he got mad... i tried to walk back into house when he grabbed my arm turning me and then hitting me in the face.... 2 days later i finally talked about what happen that night and finding out that since the 2 of us did not live together and we wasn't in a relationship that nothing could be done till the state attorney looked over everything but if we would have been living or dating each other they would have arrested him right then ...... The way I take it is the victim gets put on lock down till "Attacker" is proven guilty while the "Attacker" runs free .. I think no matter if you are a couple or just friends live together don't live together assault is assault no matter how you look at it...Please Help Me Protect the ones who can't protect they selves be that voice.......
