The WCB was created in 1913 based on a report known as the Meredith Report. It was developed to compensate workers for injuries sustained in the course of employment. It was meant to be an objective and fair system to replace expensive and time consuming litigation and injured workers inadvertently gave up their right to sue inorder to be fairly compensated by a system supported by employer contributions. Unfortunately, the WCB has lost direction and as time has evolved the need for the principles and processes of the WCB to change has also arisen. Time limits for claims are unreasonable, the mentality of the organization is focused on cost savings, and the worker is not seen as more then a claim number.

The Alberta WCB is not accountable to any greater power, not even the government. Our requests for positive changes to be made to this important organization have fallen on deaf ears and this highlights the importance of working together. It is time we come together with the common interest of promoting positive change within the Alberta WCB.

If you support our efforts please add your signature. The petition will be sent forward to the Alberta government as well as the Alberta WCB by the end of this calendar year with hopes of an improved system in the new year.
