The committee reviewing how principals are evaluated by the City of Alexandria Public Schools has agreed to include Individual Educational Plans for special needs students as a part of the principal evaluation. While this step will greatly enhance the experience of students the Alexandria City Schools, it needs to include a parental review highlighting how IEP specifics are being implemented in the classrooms. If the parental review were a part of the principal evaluation process, I believe that, not only would the IEP meetings be held in a timely manner, and the paperwork filed on time, but its implementation by the classroom teacher would be more strongly encouraged by all principals.
