Current UK employment law allows employers to sack workers without warning or reason up to two years into their employment. There is no mechanism for appeal and no redress. The government has no support for workers so affected.
Unscrupulous employers use this law to summarily dismiss employees and create and atmosphere of fear and subservience in their workforces. It enables them to operate with the advantage of a 'buyer's market' and keep wages low.
It has a devastating effect on those families affected especially where time and money has been invested in getting the job in the first place.
It is particularly damaging in communities of high unemployment.
Please help to put a stop to this odious policy.
