The St. Louis Cardinals have demanded and maintained a superior level of excellence for over a hundred years. Numerous talents have made their way through the organization, whether it be on the field, in the front office, or the broadcast booth. However, with the current cast of Ricky Horton, Dan McLaughlin, and Al Hrabosky, that excellence has not only been missing, but seemingly dismissed all together. After years of dedication from Cardinals fans all over the nation, Fox Sports Midwest must be made aware of this fact. We, the fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, demand that Fox Sports Midwest make changes or be publicly held accountable if no action is taken. The call to action is made from the following evidence: 1. The audience has had its fill. Television ratings have declined by 19% over the last three years. The one constant has been this trio. 2. The lack of attention to the game. None of the three maintain focus on the events at hand. Often times, three, four, five pitches go by without a word being said about the game. Players from the opposing team will come to bat, make an out, and return to the dugout without any background information being offered. Drudging, colorless stories meander along as pitch after pitch, play after play is made. 3. The importance placed on themselves instead of the game. By carrying on in their side conversation while pitch after pitch goes by, they seem to place the focus on themselves above the game. This can be interpreted as blatant disrespect to a fan base so steeped in tradition. 4. The general lack in quality. In this time of technology and options, it is easy to make comparisons to other team's announcers and be left wanting. With quality announcers being available through visiting team's broadcast feeds, fans will continue to turn their dial elsewhere. This is in no way a personal attack upon any of these men. This is a simple statement that our needs are not being met as fans of this wonderful organization, and a call for Fox Sports Midwest to act upon our dissatisfaction. When a player under performs on the field, he is held accountable with loss of playing time. We ask that that same standard be applied here. Ricky Horton, Dan McLaughlin, and Al Hrabosky have continually frustrated us, to the point where watching the games on TV have become unbearable. Fox Sports Midwest has stood around while continuing to insult us by offering an inferior product for years. The time has come for us as fans to demand excellence in the broadcast booth as we do with every other aspect of this team. I ask you to sign this petition.
