Keep Chambers in Edinburgh

The petition

We would like to register our support for the campaign to retain the Chambers office in Edinburgh. Chambers books, notably The Chambers Dictionary, have a distinctive quality that is due in no small part to their Scottish roots. We urge Chambers's parent company Hachette UK to reconsider its decision which could bring an end to Chambers's 190-year presence in Scotland and threatens the continued existence of the Chambers name.

Note added 30 October 2009: Efforts are ongoing to find a buyer despite confirmation of Hachette's decision to close the Edinburgh office on 31 December 2009. The staff and supporters of Chambers thank everyone for their continuing support.
