Comments: What Naomi Schaefer Riley wrote is in no way academic and does not deserve publication in an academic journal. Her article was a petty attack on an important subject that is especially relevant today as we combat the idea that we live in a post-racial society. I thank Naomi for one thing, and that is proving that Black Studies has never been so important.

Comments: Any student, regardless of color, gender, or nationality should be free to write on whatever topic is allowed by their dictates of the program they are enrolled in. No one has the right to cherry pick what they feel is a worthy topic. Frankly, it's none of their business.

Comments: This has no place in academia, much less the world. I do not condone such harsh and unfounded criticism of students who have done hard work and deserve praise for their research and dedication.

Comments: We don't need free speech. When we disagree with someone, make sure they are banned from presenting their point of view. That's the Soviet, er, I mean Nazi, uh, I mean American way.

Comments: Schaefer Riley and the Chronicle of Higher Ed should apologize unreservedly to the young Black Studies scholars who were treated with such contempt in the pages of this publication

Comments: The Chronicle must also take blame for allowing such nonsense to be published. Polemic stances may indeed be featured in academic discourse, but vicious racial attacks are unacceptable.

Comments: Funny, she will not go after established top notch scholars (of any race) who are Black: i.e.: Ronald A. T. Judy (so-called white scholars can't even get with him--so heavy, he publishes in international multi-lingual journals) just to name one of my idols...And as the bogger wrote, she goes after professionally vulnerable junior scholars. Typical of them.

Comments: It's a disgrace that a purportedly serious publication will publish a piece of extreme right wing claptrap (see what I did there?) such as this one. The bile and the racism in Schaefer Riley's article discredits not only her and her intelligence, but also the publication as a whole.
