Name: Kevin McMahon on Jul 15, 2008Comments: this technology can make all the difference for people who need it and are willing to use it properly. Even if broad generic reimbursement isn't palatable, guidelines for cases that do qualify for reimbursement at some level are justified based on the existing published research. This is not investigational any more.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Since being on the Dexcom, A1C has gone from 8.1 to 6.2, what more proof do the insurance companies need . Those that are hype/hypo sensitive these devices are a lifesaver. Do the math, a ER visit cost upwards of 4KUS State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008Comments: Thankfully, my insurance recognized the importance of providing me with the tools necessary to manage my Type 1 diabetes. As a result, my A1c went from 8.0 to 6.3 in just one year. This goal was met only because of the technology that allowed me to safely maintain very tight glucose control.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

As a parent of a child who has type 1 diabetes I can see how this latest technology can be an added tool in helping us take control of blood sugars. Please provide this technology for all patients to have as an option for treatment.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Julie Swieca on Jul 15, 2008Comments: I'm a Type 1 diabetic who was experiencing extreme hypoglycemic unawareness before going on the Dexcom CGMS. This device has literally saved my life. I am now constantly alerted to the "lows," and am able to avoid the blackouts which were prevalent before. My Hemoglobin A1C has also improved from an 8 to a 6.1 in the 4+ months I've been on the Dexcom. I live in Illinois, have Humana healthcare, and would pledge my unending gratitude to my insurance company should it finally cover my CGMS sensors!US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Laura Elggren on Jul 15, 2008Comments: I have not gotten the CGMS myself, but I have used it for a week long testing through my local hospital. I feel that this device can not only help quality of life for a diabetic, but can also prevent large blood sugar fluxuation, thus preventing negative complications in other areas of one's health. This in turn will cost the insurance company less money in the long run! I know that diabetics need a lot to live, but if we can get the few things that we do need to keep our health in check, we can really do quite well for ourselves and end up costing everyone involved a lot less money....US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Merilee Riely on Jul 15, 2008Comments: The CGMS has changed my ability to regulate my Blood Sugars significantly. I was not way out of control before but now my standard deviation has been greatly reduced which will help prevent costly medical problems in the future. It will also prevent costly and possible horrific side-effects for my soon-to-be-born child. This system should be available for ALL diabetics via their health insurance companies!!US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Current employer changed insurance companies and I orderd a new set of sensors and have recieved no reimbursement and no acknowledgement from them that they recieved my paperwork, here we go again. Aetna is the insurance of choice now.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Sue Hunt on Jul 15, 2008Comments: My 16 year old , type 1 son had the use of a CGMS for one year in a study at Yale and his A1C went down to 6.9 and his previously high kidney labs normalized from the lower A1C. Not to mention the added safety at night from dangerous lows. Please stop denying this coverage. We wouldn't be paying co-pays on this technology unless it was absolutely needed to improve health and reduce risk.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008Comments: My daughter stopped using her CGMS because unfortunately the cost of sensors became prohibitive for a young working adult. The technology makes a HUGE difference, which translates into HUGE savings for the USA in years to come, so NOT granting access to the technology is short-sighted and negligent on the part of the insurers. In the end, they'll pay MUCH more for patients debilitated by complications that a CGMS could have mitigated.US State:Name of Denied Insurance Company:Flag
