Name: James Fields on Apr 29, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: I moved from Mecklenburg County to Union County, Hunter Oaks Development for so many reasons that they are too many to list here. I can tell you after my six year battle in my previous neighborhood in Mecklenburg County against the "disorder breeds chaos" theory of what totally destroys the quality of life within your neighborhood that my wife and I will do whatever it takes to battle against Wal Mart. And I thought that by moving to a neighborhood where I had to double my mortgage would mean that life might be better....Flag

Name: Mary Baer on Apr 29, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: Neither I, my husband, nor ANY of my neighbors want your Walmart store in our back yard. I'm sure if Mr. S. Walton were alive today he would be kind enough to drop this rediculous fight you have to build where you are NOT wanted. You should be ashamed. Would you like to live a fw hundred yards from a store of that size, open 24-7 I doubt it. Our $250,000 homes would probably fit in the downstairs of your milliom $ mansions. Leave us alone. We don't want you here. Mary Baer 704 814 4851Flag

Will reduce property values of ajoining neighbors (Somerset, Hunter Oaks, Providence Downs, Longview, Providendence C. Club, Walden) as well as bring unwanted sites and sounds at all hours.Flag

Name: Beth Storlie on May 1, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: Wal-Mart is NOT an appropriate fit for the Rea Rd./Tom Short Rd. property. Nothing positive can come from having a supercenter at that location to the area homeowners. This is not an area that warrants excessive traffic, an unsightly Big Box store, increased crime, and the draw of discount shoppers. This is an area of upperscale homes with greenspace. I can not think of a more inappropriate match. If you are Wal-mart, and are targeting these neighborhoods as potential customers, I would hope you would see that you are not desired. I can not emphasize enough how a superstore does not fit physically and common sense-wise into this area. It doesn't even look appropriate. The recent tactics of the Wal-Mart mailer (which did NOT go to the neighborhoods closest to the proposed development should emphasize that we are not dealing with a "good neighbor".Flag

Name: Seth Brewer on May 5, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: A 7x24 mega store is completely inappropriate for this locale. The PUD design for small shops fostering a community/neighborhood environment should be honored. There is no-one supporting your initiative except a few county commisioners that see your tax revenue as necessary for supporting continued growth. The size of the proposed store and hours of business will negatively impact this quiet residential area and prevent other small businesses from coming into the space and providing necessary services. If you must, trim it down to a much smaller store, close at 10 and have other retail space adjacent to it. That would probably be acceptable.Flag
