Name: Liza Boyajian on Jan 24, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: A Super Wal-Mart has no place in a residential area - especially in a PUD - and most especially 25 feet from residents' yards where their children play. Shame on you Wal-Mart. Sam Walton must be turning in his grave. We will continue to fight until appropriate commercial development is built in our neighborhood.Flag

My family has been enlightened and we tell has many people as we can what Wal-Mart is really doing! We know firsthand their tactics since they want to build a supercenter adjacent to our home! We know longer shop their and never plan to again!!!Flag

Name: Lisa Johnson on Apr 24, 2003State: NCCountry:Comments: Why do you claim to care so much about your communities Is building a super walmart 30 feet from my neighbors' back yards, providing no room for a decent buffer a community friendly thing to do I've seen the site plan that your company has proposed. Although it is not my back yard, I do not support your tactics, bullying and your lack of respect to the Somerset and Hunter Oaks community in Union county, NC. Please find a location that provides a wider buffer between your 24/7 store and our sleeping children!Flag

Name: Dawn Sturkey on Apr 27, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: Our position has not changed. We do not want ANY big box retailer in our back yards. We want small, neighborhood retail. That would really enhance my life! I am enraged that a company which is touting itself as a good neighbor would try to pit residents of neighboring communities against us. Thankfully, many have seen through this tactic and will not accept any store that will hurt someone else's property value.Flag

The addition of a big box retailer clearly does not fit with the residential communities located adjacent to the proposed site. The increase in noise at all hours as well as the dramatic increase in traffic would be detrimental to the area.Flag

Name: Michael Durand on Apr 28, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: I do not want a WalMart at the Rea Rd/Tom Short Intersection. Not only would this increase traffic, noise, pollution and crime, but a WalMart or any big box store does not fit into the neighborhoods that currently are there. The current PUD states that this is zoned for commercial development, but not the size and scope of which WalMart wants to build. I think all agree that we would love to have a retail center that would fit more in lines with the confines of the land. Meaning, put in a retail center that would fit in harmony with Somerset, Hunter Oaks, Providence CC and Longview. Smart growth is the key here! Not growth at the expense of the residents of Union County and the surrounding neighborhoods! Even though WalMart would supply hundreds of jobs, it would also create hundreds of people out of jobs. These mega stores crush local businesses until they are forced out of business. The surrounding areas, like downtown Waxhaw would be severely impacted.Flag

Name: Caryl Ingram on Apr 28, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: The proposed Walmart Supercenter in western Union County, NC near Marvin is not appropriate for a residential area. The Wal-Mart will increase crime, traffic, and reduce property values in the area. As you well know the property is not zoned for your planned monstrosity. Get use to the fact that you are going to have to apply for a Special Use Permit in order to build at the proposed site, and you should realize that with the current political situation you have a ZERO PERCENT chance of obtaining the permit. You're wasting stockholders time and money on this unwinnable fight. Even if by some miracle you managed to build the store there, no one in the area will shop at the new store because of the heavy-handed tactics (threats, lawsuits, petitions, etc) used by Wal-Mart. You evidently have no grasp of the extent of the animosity built-up toward Wal-Mart from residences in the area.Flag
