Comments: Both my great nephews were diagnosed with CF. One died at age 20; the other is still living with CF at 28 years of age. Newborn screening would have helped both of them had it been available. This service is needed for the Maritimes -- do the right thing and make it happen.

Comments: I have CF, was not diagnosed until almost 7 years old, s/b much better now but depends on if Doctor has experience with or not. Screening may help save patients and parents years of headaches from not knowing what is wrong. .AD

Comments: Saving health care dollars starts by minimizing health care needs early diagnoses means early treatment which means better health which equals health care dollars saved and most important give Cystic Fibrosis children the best start in life possible it can make the difference between life and dealth

Comments: Newborn screening will actually save the health care system expenses as early care will offset the larger costs of dealing with children who are failing to thrive.

Comments: This screening is available in Alberta partially as a result of my grandson with cystic fibrosis not being diagnosed for the first few months of his life and going through life threatening procedures in an attempt to diagnose him. As he was a premature baby his symptoms were not clearly from CF. Had this testing been done automotically it would not have put a childs life at risk .
