Name: Cor VanderMeer on Jan 14, 2013Comments: I have two grandaughters with CF. The oldest, now 11, was in hospital for 10 weeks, right after birth. She was close to death and had it not been for excellent medical care would not be with us today. Her younger sister was tested for CFat birth and we learned she has the same type of CF as her older sister. The testing enabled proper medical care and the right medication from birth. Today both girls are thriving in all aspects of their young lives. Not to test new born children for Cystic Fibrosis or any other known genetic disease is criminal and is analogous to criminal negligence causing death or serious bodily harm.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 14, 2013Comments: EVERY child should have a healthy start at life, and if you can help make a childs start a bit easier because they could possibly have a disease that could ultimately kill them, you should screen and diagnose them early.ESPECIALLY f all it takes is to screen a newborn! Children with CF struggle enough, why not help them out as EARLY as possible to give them a fighting chance. Seems so logical???Flag

Name: Jessica Steeves on Jan 14, 2013Comments: As a parent of a child with CF, I can attest to how vitally important the newborn screening is. By including testing for CF in your provincial newborn screening, you would be saving families the heartache and worry of undiagnosed health problem and sparing these children the permanent damage associated with going undiagnosed. It can add years to their life and frankly I cannot see putting a price on that.Flag

We NEED screening in every province in Canada. Please get on board NOW.Flag
