I know community support is a huge factor in school success and hear from both parents and teachers that Laura Munro does NOTHING to foster that and has had a negative impact on the school.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 19, 2013Comments: I retired from Centennial 3 1/2 years ago after teaching for DPS for 31 years. At that time we were in the Yellow. I never felt the staff at Centennial was anything but caring, dedicated and professional. Our administrators were always visible and open. I understand the students at Centennial could not pick Laura Munro out of a line up. I have also met a parent who lives within Centennial boundaries who won't send her child to Centennial after meeting with the principal. This was just a chance conversation at the doctors office! Centennial deserves better.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 23, 2013Comments: After reading in the Denver Tribune about which teachers were fired, it seems as if teachers who had good "track records" (i.e. the kindergarten teachers), teachers whom parents noticed were making a difference in their children's performance, and teachers who simply spoke up at staff meetings were let go. I think bringing in new staff isn't the solution if there plenty of good staff in the school to begin with. Also, having someone from outside Denver come in and try to re-vamp this neighborhood school without gaining representation from the local family (hardly any Latinos) on the improvement board seems ridiculous. Let's give these teachers another chance and bring in a leader who will work with the current staff in a way that is supported by the community.Flag
