Comments: Effective education does not start with dismantling the community of educators that care about our kids! I want to see real improvement and now. Not a plan that hopes for it in two years under the leadership of someone who is not involved in the community, does not attend a single PTA meeting, and does not find time to visit her teachers classrooms! I vote for grassroots improvement where we raise our community up together with a strong leader that helps us build our school at Centennial by engaging with us!

Comments: It is sad that with all the examples of real reform that have occured in the last few years (most with minor staff changes) DPS still resorts to scapgoating teachers. My daughter was a throw away from Brown, my son was a throw away from North, This community deserves better! Support your schools, ALL families and teachers. The rest will take care of itself!

Comments: Again, this another example of how DPS admin and Mr. Boasberg are steam rolling forward with what they think is best for our community. Ms. Munro, terminating your staff at the beginning of February right after count date is suspicious and wrong. Did you tell your current families this was the case in the out reach meetings? I have been following the changes at Centennial and I am certain that if you surveyed your parents they would completely disagree with this approach to turning around a school. This is not good for the community, not good for teachers and not good for kids. When will DPS listen to the community?

Comments: I firmly believe that Ms. Munroe should be terminated from her duties at Centennial K8, where my 4 children have attended school since 2001. I do not agree with the decisions that have been made and although I attended meetings regarding the issues at hand, I do not believe Ms. Munroe, nor her supervisor, have listened to the parents and community.

Comments: Mrs. Munro is condescending and distant from the population at Centennial. I would be willing to bet that if you line up 50 students she would not be able to tell you if 10 of them attend Centennial, what grade they are in or even their name. She does not make the effort to become a part of the diverse community of Northwest Denver but rather she tries to mold us to her Boulder ideals. While I have no doubt that our students can achieve equal with or even above those ideals, our demographic needs to be recognized, engaged and cherished in the process. Not discarded. Mrs Munro makes decisions on her own behalf and not on the behalf of the students. The drastic drop in test scores immediately following her hire should speak to that failure Even her hire was unethical, as she was not chosen by the hiring committee but instead by her friend, the Superintendent. 75% of those teachers did not fail my child! She continuously scores above proficient having come through 5 years at Centennial. I respectfully ask that you show our school the dignity it deserves by replacing Mrs Munro with a competent and experienced leader. Not a good ol' boys-under the table-sketchy deal with a board member's buddy.

Comments: I was RIBed in 2010,,and the events that have taken place since through out the district are unconscionable....with every school under reform the district continues to do as it pleases not only getting rid of tenure teachers in order to save money but replacing with the bulk of them being inexperienced educators. They discredit parents ideas or thoughts in the process when it involves educating the most important precious asset,,their children..

Comments: My children and grand children have gone to Centennial and some of the teachers have been there since my 32 and 24 year olds have been there. I believe some of the teaching administration needs revamping but not 75%, that is rediculous, what happened to personal accountability? Why are they not looking at the tools provided to these teachers as well as the progress within their classrooms. ! specific teacher taught 3 of my grandchildren and is now teaching a 4th, ages ranging from 16 - 9. They have all been A students.

Comments: One of the Centennial teachers is a member of my family. This is what I have learned about the current principal: 1) She often shows up for work late. 2) She does not attend PTA meetings. 3) She stays in her office and does not make herself known to the students. 4) She does not support the teachers when a student is disruptive in class. 5) She takes at face value what students report about what a teacher said, and then disciplines the teacher without giving him or her a chance to correct the record. 6) All of the teachers she decided to keep are young; the older, more experienced teachers will have to find positions at other DPS schools. 7) The test scores for Centennial students were improving before the principal arrived, and now they have declined. 8) She said at a faculty meeting, when first introducing herself, that she understood Hispanics because she had once hired a nanny from South America. 9) She had no prior school-level administrative experience before being appointed to her current position. 10) She is a friend of the superintendent.
