Comments: you people are really messed up in the head. get a life instead of worrying about media worry about what goes on at your local school and at the parks and in public places. those places need to be watched for drugs and violence. they learn violence from other violent people who got beat by their parents or by others who got beat up by ones who were abused. Violence has always been around and by worrying about media people will just continue to fight anyway. if you want them to stop stop violence in your local area and then others will worry about there place and when that is done hit the media. but right now dont waste your time about media hit local newspapers with advertisements first you morons.

Comments: I am a college student--i don't watch very much television, i try avoiding pop culture b/c in the past it's only affected me negatively. Recently, though, i was sick and at home, flipping through the channels...I cringed at some of the things I saw on my local cable t.v. I'm not talking about digital cable, i mean your basic channels, ones that most children have access to. There are only so many ways that parents can censor their children, b/c kids will almost always find a way...so, I decided to do some research on the topic, see what i could do...when i stumbled upon this website. Also, since some things always will be this way, i think the only other thing we can do is educate and mentor the up and coming generations on the topic. Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

Comments: censorship is for the protection of children and without it some kid might watch the news and see some person getting attention for killing someone and he might do the same thing. I think that if the kid wanted atention that much he/she would still do it because most kids are tought that killing is wrong and it seems that its a big deal so the kid thinks that the bigger the act the more attenion he/she will get.

Comments: I believe their should be restrictions to a certain degree, I don't think a 14 yr old kid should be able to walk into a store and buy "grand theft auto" however if the parent does not mind the kid having the game, the parent can always take the time to go buy the game for them. problem solved.

Comments: There has never been a time in the worlds history that the media has effected till now. There should be a more censoreship type of geting lifes info. Death and carnage have overcome our childrens eyes something is drasticly wrong with dramatizeing someones death or that a person could have the nerve to promote rattings by doing so.

Comments: Doing this would only stimulate growth into this culture. There is no way to combat this kind of behavior in our society, due to overpopulation. If you want real information concerning violence in the media, please watch 'Bowling for Columbine' by Michael Moore. Very, very insightful.

Comments: As a parent, it's your job to "censor" what your kids witness, not the government's. You can easily stop your kids from buying those video games, it's your responsibility anyways. And if you want to see a lot of violence, just watch the news. There's way more in real life than in any video game. And why shouldn't "violent images" be shown on the news They happened, didn't they It's not as if they were fabricated just to shock the viewers. You can't just ignore the world, stuff happens, such as 9-11. I'm glad our government doesn't keep the details from us, we have a right to know what's going on, including the unpleasant details. Sugar-coating everything would make us an ignorant, naive society, and we would get nowhere.
