End Cell phone Early Termination Fees 2008 - Calif

The petition

Resolution in favor of eliminating all termination fees by the major cell phone carriers to include: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Alltel.

Whereas the democracy of our country is dependent on the ability in a free market society for our citizens to choose which carrier they would like to use as their provider without penalty, fee, or commitment.

And whereas the large cell phone carriers continue to profit from termination fees throughout California and the United States.

And whereas contracts that are entered into by consumers are not allowed to be revised unless the carrier sees fit to do so, not allowing the consumer to opt out of their contract at any time without penalty.

And whereas due to changes in coverage or relocation of the consumer the service no longer becomes viable.

Be it resolved that consumers of California shall support this resolution to request that the state legislature issue a bill to eliminate all current penalties for consumers when they choose to opt out of a contract for any reason.
