Cell Service in LaRiviere & the Pembina Valley

Cell phones have become a part of our society. They are used to keep in touch with family and friends and also by RCMP, EMS, and Fire & Rescue. Residents of LaRiviere and the Pembina Valley are part of the 3% of Manitoba residents that do not have service on the MTS network. This affects our standard of living, the economic viability of our local businesses and compromises our safety. We petition MTS Allstream of Manitoba to provide cellular service to our region.

  • Jordan Mollot Hate not being able to keep in touch with where my friends are if we separate.

  • Pamela Ramos A few years ago, our car broke down on the highway right after the turn off from Manitou to Holiday Mountain. There's no cell service so we walked up the road to the gas station but were not able to use the pay phone (due to not being updated and the operator saying they could not "hear the coins") and the gas station attendant would not let us make a call to Winnipeg from their phone to get picked up or a tow.

Luckily, some good Samaritans gave us a ride to Holiday Mountain, in order to make a call to Winnipeg and to pick us up so that we weren't stranded 2 hours from home.

Being a big tourist area for Manitoba, how have they not installed a basic service to this area?

  • Anonymous Can't believe in this day and age we still need to sign petitions for necessities like this!
