| 93 | Dr. Margret Johannsen | Hamburg, Germany | As a political analyst and peace researcher, I want to add that there are in priniple two ways to end a conflict: either giving war a chance and letting a conflict burn out, or negotiate a sustainable settlement. The first option is not available because the word would not accept the bloodbath among the Palestinians which would go along with it. Negotiating a sustainable settlement is not possible while the the cycle of bloodshed and violence goes on. So a mutually agreed ceasefire is needed, not only for humanitarian reasons but also to give political leaders the necessary legitimacy to negotiate in a meaningful way. |
