Name: Doug Gleich Son Of Donita & Lyle Thompson on Mar 1, 2007Comments: We feel that it will effect the well on our property, about 1/2 west of the proposed site on Anitoch Rd. We believe that it will effect the tourism and basically be an eye sore while traveling down Cheiftain, which has been an un-effected route into Logan over the past. We'd like to see Hocking County stay clean of destruction of nature and it's vast tourism for the "scenery". Thank You.Flag

Name: Mary Marsh on Mar 4, 2007Comments: I have signed the petition because I believe Shelly and Sands/Mar-Zane should address the issues your group has raised, and also because I agree the "old" permit does not really apply to this expanded site and potential new asphalt operations. They should start over with a new permit application and respond to the community's concerns. Perhaps there is a middle ground that all can agree on. Mary Marsh (Salt Creek township)Flag

I don't see an "upside" to this proposal. This is harmful to the environment and the citizens of this area. No one wants to live near a mining operation.Flag

Name: Carolyn Highland on Mar 8, 2007Comments: PLEASE don't allow this to happen!!! Why would anyone ruin our environment These kinds of things HAVE to stop somewhere and sometime. We soon will have no wildlife or environment left. Have we learned no lessons from global warming and the rainforests This may be a different circumstance but it will ruin Mother Nature.Flag

Name: Angie Buie on Mar 10, 2007Comments: We're dealing with the same hyper-development issues in my beautiful NC mountains. Enough gravel mines, crowded subdivisions and other unacceptable uses of our land will only degrade the areas and the local economy in the long run. Go Hocking Hills fans -- don't give up the fight! We're rooting for you.Flag

Name: Mike Williams on Mar 10, 2007Comments: I'd urge the Ohio Division of Mineral Resources Management to address the above concerns to the satisfaction of Hocking County - not just the local residents who see the activity everyday, but also those throughout and beyond our immediate community who may realize the effects of this "mining activity" too late to fix the damage. I'm just asking that we see evidence of these potential negative side effects being studied.Flag

Name: Dora Ayers on Mar 17, 2007Comments: I live in Highland Park, north of Enterprise where the proposed mine is to be located. I have lived here for 42 years. It is a beautiful area with lovely homes, schools, and scenic value. I am very much against this mining operation, as it is very close to our scenic river, which is enjoyed by many as a reacreation area. Much fertile farmland is here, as well. This operation should be stopped IMMEDIATELY before it goes any further.Flag

Name: Bruce Stapleton on Mar 21, 2007Comments: It is very clear there is a major conflict of interest regarding this expansion both in local government, and with people affiliated with the decisions regarding this desired expansion. It is imparative we look into in detail the associations and the benefits the proposed expansion of this mine will provide those who wish to expand the mine. It is clear to me that there are "NO" benefits to the community and the economic base of the Hocking Valley only destruction of our eco system and permanent harm to our way of life. It is imparative we stop this expansion at all costs and work stedfastly toward eliminating conflicts of interest in local government and agencies responsible for looking after the well being of our beautiful Hocking Hills region of Ohio.....Flag
